SURGICAL OUTREACH & TEACHING

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

Global Eye Mission has partnered with Vision Outreach International on a surgical outreach project in the Dominican Republic. The purpose of these outreach projects is twofold; to treat the underserved rural population with needed medical and surgical eye care and to teach interested ophthalmologists to serve in similar projects.

Additionally, Global Eye Mission participated in a teaching project at the Elias Santana Hospital and residency to instruct residents in surgical techniques applicable to advanced surgical pathology seen in the developing world.  The Elias Santana Hospital is a well-respected eye hospital and training facility for ophthalmologists who serve in the Dominican Republic and throughout the developing world.
