Eye Love Africa (ELA) is a project under Serge Global, a 501c3 U.S. non-profit mission agency. ELA was founded by Dr. John Cropsey, a missionary ophthalmologist with over 15 years of experience in East Africa (Kenya, Burundi, and now Rwanda).
Eye Love Africa seeks to eradicate needless blindness in the Great Lakes region of Africa (Congo, Burundi, Rwanda) and empower African eye care providers to be the hands and feet of Jesus to the blind through training, mentoring, and equipping.
TRAINs African ophthalmologists at our partner institution, the Rwanda International Institute of Ophthalmology in Kigali, where Dr. Cropsey serves as faculty.
MENTORs ophthalmology residents and partner ophthalmologists both professionally and spiritually through “on-the-job” interactions and intentional Bible studies.
EQUIPs partner ophthalmologists in needy areas of Congo and Burundi with the finances and medical equipment/supplies needed to provide high quality eye care to the vulnerable.
Global Eye Mission supports the ongoing work of the Eye Love Africa mission through grants to support the work at the Rwanda International Institute of Ophthalmology as well as surgical outreach projects coordinated through ELA into Congo and Burundi.
